the Lost and Found
a forgetful and frivolous child, she was
misplacing this, leaving behind that
paying visits to the Lost and Found
until it became
a habit.
time after time
she found what she was looking for
the miniature clock, the music box, the lacy sock - little lost treasures
she reclaimed
as hers
and all was well
time passes by, seasons creep in and out - and just like that
she is back - she. is. back.
in the Lost and Found
but this time
it’s not her sparkly pink pencil that’s lost
it’s
her.
She is adrift
She's falling. down. descending further and further, collapsing into unceasing depths. She's dizzy, so dizzy -
her mind
half wandering through yesterday-
-half pondering tomorrow
her fingers
hesitant to let go of the past, yet unwilling to open the door to the future
She is
frantically searching
for what?
She - doesn't know…
the falling stops, just then
and she is in a familiar place
the unsteadiness turns to clarity
her feet are stable now. firmly planted on the ground. in the Lost and Found. and she finds-
Herself.
-it’s all here
right here
in front of her
She is here.
and she always has been.
