time travel
She longs to go back
and visit the Early Days,
to remember who she was,
to re-live forgotten fantasies,
to tie up the loose ends
of countless yesterdays.
She boards the Sailboat of Time,
and races against the tide -
- its ebb and flow holding memories,
of past people, past places.
She fights to piece it all together,
all of the timestamps,
before she reaches her destination,
returns to the
Past.
But she never gets there
She looks up and her eyes
trace the constellations above.
She is lost,
lost at sea,
stuck in
Time.
The gentle sunlight,
beaming in the waves of the water,
calls out her name
She sails around and around,
in circles.
She feels
Yesterday,
tugging her back.
But then
Tomorrow
pulls, and its force
is harder, stronger
So she lets the Sailboat lead her.
Forward.
She drifts, flows,
here,
to today.
To stay.
