Stuffed Bear

As I fall asleep each nightfall

he watches over me.

my first friend, my first confidante, my eternal security blanket

was him

I give my teddy a squeeze - it’s strange, isn’t it?

how his brown furry coat is still soft, his red velvet ribbon still perfectly smooth

this single touch brings me comfort

in an instant, he takes me back

to the early days

those days

of bedtime tales and tunes after a long day’s play, sweet dreams of tomorrow’s sunny rays

now those days

Are gone

but my teddy is still here

right here. lying by my side.

As I fall asleep each nightfall

he watches over me.

my first friend, my first confidante, my eternal security blanket

my teddy’s soothing presence connects me to those early days

Then, Now, Always - I cling to him

and I know that the child in me will always stay
