Grandfather Clock
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock
Time.
it’s a strange thing
ticking away, constantly
we thought we could outrun it
and for a while, we did - back when the days were long and slow
in our minds, we were always ahead - the Time, it would never go
but what we didn’t know was that it would sneak up on us
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock
slyly, stealthily, silently
like a thief, it robbed us of the seconds, the minutes, the hours
Infinite Moments. Gone. Disappeared.
and with each passing day, year, lifetime
we knew we couldn’t outrun it
Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
in this race of life, the clock keeps ticking
for Time, it is a thing with wings - too fast it flies by
here we remain, lagging so far behind
Tick. Tock.
Tick. Tock.
and I want to know -
Will we ever catch up?
